It is my Father-in-Laws favorite and everyone else in the house likes it very much also. Aloo gosht is classic sub-continental meat curry which has thin tomato onion gravy with flavours from bone-in meat usually beef or lamb/mutton and potatoes. The origin of this dish is difficult to trace. Aloo Gosht ka Shorba or Mutton Potato Stew is a tasty soup that can be enjoyed with Parota or Bread.

Steps to make Beef Aloo gosht:
  1. Add oil in a wok, then fry onion until golden brown in color.
  2. When the onion becomes slightly brown then add beef and fry for 1-2 min.
  3. Then add ginger garlic paste and mix well.
  4. Now add red chilli powder, salt, coriander powder, turmeric powder green cardamom, cloves. Mix well and water and bring it to boil.
  5. Cover and cook until meat is 3/4 done.
  6. Add yoghurt and cook until water dries and oil separates.
  7. Add potatoes and water and mix it and cover and cook until potatoes are tender and meat is done.
  8. Add whole spice powder, elaichi powder, mace and nutmeg powder, kewra essense, green coriander and ginger.cover and put it on simmer for 1-2 minutes.beef aloo gosht is ready to serve with hot chapati or naan.
