The ingredients needed to make Paalak Biryani/Spinach Biryani:
  1. Take 2 cups blanched and pureed spinach
  2. Get 1.5 cups soaked and cooked rice (par cooked 60-70%)
  3. Make ready 1 onion+1 tomato+2 green chillies+ few garlic cloves (grinded)
  4. Make ready 2 tbsp ghee
  5. Make ready as required Few cashews fried
  6. Take as per taste Salt
  7. Prepare as required Turmeric powder
  8. Get as required Garam Masala
  9. Make ready Pinch hing
  10. Get as required Jeera and mustard seeds for tempering
  11. Prepare 1/2 tsp kewra water
Instructions to make Paalak Biryani/Spinach Biryani:
  1. Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan. Add jeera and mustard seeds to crackle. Add hing. Then add the grinded onion-tomato mixture.
  2. Let it cook on medium flame till it cooks. It will take around 10 minutes. Add salt, turmeric powder and garam masala. Give a good mix.
  3. Add in pureed spinach and mix.Add in par cooked rice, mix. Off the flame. Now heat a nonstick skillet on otherside. Then reduce the flame to low and keep the pan containing rice over it. Cover it with a lid and let it cook for 10 more minutes so that rice gets cooked completely(as done in dum biryani)
  4. Off the flame, sprinkle kewra water and add fried cashews. Serve hot
  5. Fried onions are also added but I didn't add today.. - No khada masala added… Garam masala has all khada masala freshly dry roasted and grinded
